Looking To New Horizons

ree

Today, at this year's NDSU State of the University Address, I had the unique opportunity of singing with the Madrigal Singers to close the event with our alma mater, "The Yellow and Green." It was so much fun! President David Cook's message was full of energy and optimism as he shared the exciting developments that have and will shape the future of this school.

As a music major, I have enjoyed the remodel of the Challey School of Music this year, especially the windows in the choir room! However, Pres. Cook also announced the creation of an Honors College centered on artificial intelligence, while highlighting many academic departments' expansion and the achievements of both students and faculty. His address focused on innovation, growth, and the importance of preparing students to lead in a changing world.

Being part of this moment reminded me how music can both honor tradition and inspire progress, and helped me feel motivated to pursue my own future with creativity and determination. As a musician, I can carry forward the power of song to connect people and uplift communities. I am inspired to see how new ideas, like shaping education and technology, can also shape the way I bring healing and hope to others. Standing on that stage, I felt not only pride in representing NDSU, but also a renewed sense of purpose for how I can use my voice and my future profession to make a difference.
